Newborn Care Specialist

Our Newborn Care Specialists approach their expertise with an unconditional love for babies.

Newborn Care Specialists are trained, skilled professionals who provide unique assistance and education to parents of newborns. This temporary position sets parents up for success, during one of the most precious times in their little one’s life.

After parents bring their newborn or multiples home from the hospital, help from our Newborn Care Specialists includes sleep training, feeding, assistance with breastfeeding, and more. Newborn Care Specialists provide 10-24-hour shifts, and we work together to tailor a schedule that best fits your family’s unique needs. Our Newborn Care Specialists have a minimum of 3 years experience, but the majority of our specialists have 7+ years. They often come from a background as nurses or medical professionals, postpartum doulas, or individuals with other concentrated childcare training. Many of our Newborn Care Specialists are experienced with twins or multiples.

Typical responsibilities of a Newborn Care Specialist:

  • Supporting and educating parents
  • Transitioning from the newborn to the infant stage
  • Creating or refining a schedule
  • Assisting with any feeding issues and facilitating successful breastfeeding
  • Staying with the baby to offer feedings or bringing to Mom to feed, and then returning to sleep
  • Establishing sleep training
  • Providing care in the areas of changing, diapering, bathing, nursery organization, sleep training, and support to the parents
  • Maintaining a log of eating, sleeping and behavior patterns

Our priority is your peace of mind. Each of our nanny candidates is a childcare professional who takes caregiving very seriously. All of our Nannies meet our exceptionally high standards and are selected for their experience, character and reliability. We place full time and part time nannies, travel nannies, as well as temporary and live-in nannies.

All of our nannies have a minimum of 3 years experience, with the majority of them having at least 5-10 years. We are proud to represent a diverse group of nannies with different skills and abilities. Several hold their Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development, some speak multiple languages, and many are lifetime career nannies with 10+ years of professional nanny experience.

Typical responsibilities of a nanny:

  • Planning age appropriate activities and learning for the day
  • Organizing the children’s play area and bedroom
  • Washing the children’s laundry
  • Picking up the areas that were used during the work day, and leaving the home as it was left at the beginning of the shift
  • Driving to and from activities
  • Preparing simple and healthy meals for the children


Our housekeepers work in all types of homes, from those with a casual atmosphere to formal, multi-staffed homes, and their job description will change depending on the needs of the family. This position involves daily maintenance of the home as well as heavy cleaning. Housekeepers are usually supervised by principals or by the Household Manager.

While some may not have formal training, our housekeepers have at least 3 years of experience working in a private home. A Housekeeper works either full-time or part-time, on a live-in or live-out basis. Housekeepers usually work alone, but should the needs of the home demand multiple staff, they may work as a team with other housekeepers.

As a general guideline, a full-time Housekeeper is recommended for homes of 5,000 sq. ft. or more. If errands, cooking, and laundry are also required, hiring an additional housekeeper is recommended.

Typical responsibilities of a housekeeper:

  • Cleaning the interior of the home
  • Laundry and ironing linens
  • Running errands including the grocery shopping
  • Making the beds
  • Polishing the silver
  • Organizing drawers and straightening closets
  • Caring for household pets
  • Maintaining stock of routine cleaning and household supplies

Personal Assistants

Personal assistants are responsible for working in the employer’s home in the management of household, personal, and professional needs.

Our personal assistants have excellent managerial, communication and interpersonal skills, understand protocol and etiquette and have the ability to organize and prioritize multiple activities. Some personal assistants have a Bachelor’s degree in addition to professional experience in a corporate setting.

Typical duties of a Personal Assistant include:

  • Handling the bills
  • Making travel arrangements, and often traveling with the employer.
  • Serving as office assistant, handling correspondence, creating inventories, organizing the office and handling media inquiries.
  • Planning special events and parties
  • Managing construction projects or home improvements.
  • Scheduling of staff and maintenance personnel.
  • Coordinating personal schedules and daily activities
  • Running business and personal errands
  • Maintaining social and philanthropic activities.


Our personal chefs dedicate themselves solely to the culinary needs of the home. They are responsible for preparing meals for the family, other household staff members, and guests.

There are many levels of chefs, from basic family cook to the school of trained gourmet chef. Many of our chefs have experience with various diets; Paleo, Low Carb, Vegan, Low Calorie, and Vegetarian. We prefer to have all of our chefs graduate from a culinary school and have experience inside a private home or in a 5-star restaurant. Whatever your tastes, they can provide the right flavor for your home or company.

The position of Chef can be performed on either a live-in or live-out depending on the needs of the employer.

Typical responsibilities of a personal chef:

  • Menu planning and preparing nutritious meals suited to an individual’s or 
family’s personal preferences or special dietary needs.
  • Directing the organization and operation of the kitchen and the presentation and serving of the food.
  • Preparing a range of menus from simple family dinners to formal, five-star 
restaurant caliber meals.
  • Families may require their Personal Chef to travel to their other residences.

How It Works

1. Registration and Interview Process

At Lexington Nannies and Household Staffing our impeccable service begins with your first phone call. We will guide you through the process of finding your perfect domestic professional. The detailed phone consultation helps us identify the best candidates for your specific job.

After our initial conversation, Lexington Nannies and Household Staffing wastes no time. We conduct in-depth interviews to evaluate and find our clients domestic professionals. After our comprehensive interview process, we contact you to discuss the details of the candidates which we feel would be the best match for your family.

Once you have chosen the candidates that you want to meet with, we will set up initial interviews at your convenience. After the initial interviews, we suggest a 1-3 day in-home working interview with the candidate(s) of your choice. This will offer you a way to get better acquainted and to see if the candidate is a good fit for your family.

2. Offer of Employment
Following a successful working interview, you have the option to extend an offer of employment or continue screening for new candidates. Once an offer has been made, Lexington Nannies and Household Staffing will start a series of complete and detailed background checks.
3. Background Checks

Your family’s peace of mind is of the utmost importance to us. We provide superior background checks for all of our domestic professionals before they start working in your home.

Our Enhanced Security Background Check includes:

  • Criminal History Search Including all Locations Lived in During the Past 7 Years
  • Auxiliary National Criminal Search Including Records for the Past 7 years
  • Social Security Number Trace
  • Department of Motor Vehicles report
  • Credit file on request
4. Replacements
We pride ourselves on providing the most professional service possible. In the unlikely event that your staff person is not the right fit, we will replace them without any additional cost, within the first three months.
5. Fee Structure
Our placement fee is 15% of the annual salary of your chosen candidate. If you are looking for a temporary candidate, lasting 1 day-3 months, the fee is 25% of the total paid to the candidate.
